What are the university’s bid thresholds?
According to university policy, non-contracted procurements totaling over $10,000 are subject to a procurement process (request for quote (RFQ), invitation for bid (IFB), request for proposal (RFP). These solicitations are sent to three or more known suppliers.
Solicitations totaling $50,000 or greater are listed on our website under Current Bids.
- Purchases between $10,000 and $50,000: University policy requires non-contracted purchases over $10,000 and under $50,000 to receive bids from three or more known suppliers. These bids are usually processed through the RFQ process.
- Purchases under $10,000: These purchases are generally handled by the end-using/requesting departments through several different methods, including a Purchasing Card or Purchase Order. Restricted goods or services, including compressed gasses, radioactive isotopes, DEA restricted purchases and specific unique research items, require specialized procurement procedures and protocols.
